Dr Doron Samuell is a serious photographer inspired by diverse sources, such as the raw in-between moments made famous by Dianne Arbus through to the confronting, unfinished images of Terry Richardson. Doron brings his skills as a psychiatrist to the photographic medium, capturing the character of his subjects unposed and unfinished to stimulate and provoke the viewer.
His images offer a balance between colour, composition and creativity.
The image was taken in Napier. Capturing a special moment and transition in a woman's life. The frivolity of careless indulgences, captured with a Kodachrome finish, giving the image a timeless, playful context.
